The Living difference. TRTC...it is no secret that the health of our nation is in steep decline. A large reason for this is that as humans we have strayed from our roots as hunter gatherers. For millennia we have subsided on fresh, living foods indigenous to our local environments. These foods are the fuel that our bodies are designed to run on for optimum energy levels and peak performance. Since the Industrial Revolution we have rapidly developed technologies that have separated our food from nature. The items on grocery store shelves today are heavily processed and meant to endure long shelf lives. They are transported to locations thousands of miles from where they are grown. By the time they reach our plates, weeks have passed since harvest and they’ve begun their natural process towards decay. Our bodies do not recognize these old, manipulated foods and therefore cannot properly assimilate them. While advances in industrial agriculture have seemed to make our lives easier they are actually making our waistlines bigger and our health poorer. Instead we must take cues from our ancestors so we can begin to enjoy a renewed sense of health and vitality!

The most important principle to abide by is to eat plenty of locally grown, living produce. What do we mean by “living produce”? Fresh foods are actually alive! They contain powerful anti-oxidants, enzymes, and nutrients that our bodies love. They allow us to enjoy boosted energy while performing at peak levels and fending off illness naturally. Shopping locally grown foods drastically reduces time from “farm to table” ensuring your foods still contain their life-force. Cooking also degrades the perfection of live enzymes and nutrients therefore it is essential to enjoy a significant amount of raw plant foods. Sprinkling fresh herbs over salads, into pasta dishes or on top of eggs is an excellent way to take advantage of living foods.

Living foods also have an alkalizing effect on the body. In order to fend off disease and maintain a healthy weight our body pH should be slightly alkaline. Fresh vegetables, leafy greens, and herbs are phenomenal for those who need to raise their body pH into an alkaline range. As we enjoy more of these foods we can watch every day aches and pains disappear, and caffeine is no longer needed as a “pick me up”. Those battling chronic diseases, and auto-immune disorders can even see a full reversal of their condition through a lifestyle heavy in living plant foods. Because of the industrialized food system in the US many of us are actually malnourished! Once we incorporate fresh, living foods into our diets we restore our bodies with nutrients aiding in weight loss as a nourished body does not suffer from excessive cravings. As you can see the benefits of these foods are truly miraculous!

Hippocrates, the father of Western medicine, said “Let thy food be thy medicine, and thy medicine be thy food”. It is clear that our best “food medicines” are living plant foods.
