I can understand why you may feel that way, Dan. You have lots of company here. For me, I think Maine isn't a 'bad' person, he just let's his passion get the better of him occasionally. Eventually he'll realize he is doing his cause more harm than good, and concentrate his efforts on areas that yield the desired results. In the meantime, IMO, it behooves us to be patient. Afterall, who amongst us is not subject to a personal foible from time to time?
