How do I use batch view to read multiple messages at the same time?
This is a feature available only to paid Premium Message Board subscribers.
Go to: Settings/My Site options
Scroll down to Messages Per Batch in Batch-View and set it to 50 or 100.

Open a post and look at the top right. You will see a link to open the next 100 posts in a batch mode.
