Arts' comment on LinkedIns' Photovoltaic Solar Cell Manufacturing thread:

"Art P. Lamstein Solterra Renewable Technologies is also pursuing IR quantum dot solar. Tetrapod CdSe quantum dots can be precisely made to absorb from UV to IR spectrum and so can be mixed to adjust in favor the 43% of the spectra that is IR. A completely IR solar cell can be manufactured for those long arctic nights or mixed for latitude or weather condition like San Francisco's fog.. Most all will agree that the main problem stopping mass adaption of solar is the cost - the cost of nanomaterial photon absorbers, the cost of manufacture of solar cells, and the initial cost at consumer purchase. Henry Ford revolutionized the automobile industry not with the most efficient car, but with the most affordable one. The company that can mass produce tetrapod quantum dots to support megawatts and then gigawatts of low cost roll-to-roll solar cell production will make solar ubiquitous."
