The latest news on CIGS as of Nov 13th is a company I believe Enda Labs has just achieved a 21% CIGS panel efficiency. So most who think that silicon's 20% efficiency is untouchable are mistaken. I also read an
excellent industry article that explained the how the life time total cost of CIGS is far more efficient that the best silicon technology currently available. I have no idea what his happening with the patent or future development of the coevaporator, but the info is still on the site so time will tell. An interesting development is that perhaps that Xsunx teams up with another CIGS film producer and they combine their processes or both companies are bought out by a conglomerate and achieve the same. The bottom line, is this industry is in the process of many changes and a company I'd going to have to be fluid, because flexible at this point is to rigid. I give credit to Xsunx for their diversity. While this has frustrated many, it was/necessary in order to survive. They also explained that although the cost of silicon has come down, the low light inefficient properties of silicon combined with EPA mandatory recycling costs, CIGS has a big advantage. Time will tell. Enjoy the holiday season coming up, enjoy your family and kids, and keep it all in perspective.
