TI is in the business of selling chips. They want to sell as many chips as possible.
Therefore, I believe TI bought Chipcon so that they can sell their radio/tranceivers to their customers along with their chips. After all, if you're going to build a wireless product, you're going to need BOTH chips and radio/tranceivers. It doesn't make sense for TI to sell their chips along with a radio/tranceiver that uses figure8 software and is incompatible with their chip.
That's why I believe that TI will convert the software in those radio/tranceivers as soon as possible. Doesn't that make sense to you?
