what do you guys think about this comment made by someone at the end of the SA article? I don't know much about PCB printing, maybe you guys do.

The photos in this article display liquid photoimageable solder mask (no longer used by any serious prototyping house), suitable for home hobbyists. Modern solder mask is dry film photoimageable solder mask (DFSM), also known as 'dry mask over bare copper' - a hi-tek Dupont product - note the "photoimageable" reference, which means you don't have to "remove the holes" as described in this article. More importantly, adhesiveness of the soldermask to the laminate board is crucial to the wave soldering process, and requires a complex chemical bond that likely cannot be achieved using a "3D printing process". I suspect that the so-called "3D soldermask printer" would more appropriate in silkscreening (the white component designation markings you see on a board) than in soldermasking... although the traditional silkscreen process is already quick cheap and effective.

The whole thing is a blatant pump, but i managed to make a few shekels off it today :)
