I've watch the videos and have extensive experience in General & Bariatric surgical procedures. With that said, when a Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy is performed it takes 3 instruments. One of the surgical instruments to hold the the Gallbladder up bending the liver upwards to expose critical anatomy, while the other two instruments dissects out the gallbladder while the tissues are under tension for easier dissection. In the videos I only see two instruments working while the liver is up by itself. In the video I see they have produced synthetic anatomy for the demonstration. My critical point is that the liver was made to stand up on its own, so the dissection could be done with two instruments as opposed to three. If you look at Intuitive's single site there is room for three instruments. This would suggest that If this procedure was done utilizing the SPORT system then an additional 5 millimeter incision would be needed for the procedure for a third instrument. As you know from my previous posts I am a share holder and cheerleader for Titan, but I also believe in critical evaluation. I think the tissue and cadaver studies will demonstrate this and will be very interesting to see.
