Well, I'm from Sweden so this is how I dit it.
I contacted www.Safello.se and transfered a given sum in SEK to them which they bought Bitcoin for.
I then created a Wallet at www.Blockchain.info. A Wallet is like your bank account. Then I asked Safello to transfer my bitcoins from them to my Wallet. A Wallet consist of a private key (keep that extremly safe!). It's a long string of characters. From the private key the system generates the public key (hash function) which is free to publish. You can generate keys at www.bitaddress.org.
