I have a fisher gold bug 2 as far as detectors is concerned. I started using an old "TR" metal detector (Transmiter-reciever) when I lived in the UK back in the 1970s. Searching the "commons" areas yielded lots of old large british pennies. I've not been very sucessful with metal detectors, looking for gold. Plenty of lead buck shot so I know I'm in tune. Currently in AR visiting family. If you happen to put together an outing for detectorists let me know. I could perhaps arrange a gold prospecting outing and extend an invite to you and yours the next time the club prospects Vein Mountain NC camp. There are also some pay to dig sites for emeralds in NC I'd like to visit.
