Mr. Clarke is using FB as an Investor Relations Interface. It helps him save time, and time is money. Furthermore FB is free, popular, easy to setup. Again saving time, and money.

If he were to use email exclusively; then he would have to answer many of the same questions over, and over again. Also since the information is made public; it answers the questions for the people who did not bother to send an email, or did not think about that question in the first place. It's basically a social FAQ.
