when shorts cover their short position in $MPIX, they MUST cover at the ASK ( that's the BIGGER number of the two numbers ).
When the longs decide NOT to sell their shares of $MPIX, the shorts will have trouble finding shares to cover their short position. The MMs (that's the Market Makers) notice this, and push the price up higher, making the situation worse for the shorts, so they increase their effort to cover their short position in $MPIX. The MMs notice this and push the price up again. It is not a good situation for the shorts, but a wonderful thing for the investors holding a long position in $MPIX.
You will see longs on the board here posting about how happy they are.
The shorts will probably NEVER say they are short - they might use other tactics to attempt to keep the price low to ease their pain.
We will see it happen in 2014, so you can get a front-row seat as to how it happens. I have my $MPIX shares locked away. I am buying more also.
