Yes, reading the PR didn't make sense to me either being a computer guru using both OS's.
The only part that made sense was when they said they submitted the app for iOS 5 & Apple said they needed to make it work with iOS 7. I may be wrong (somebody check the dates of app submission & iOS 7 release) but I think iOS 7 was out long before they submitted the app, so who knows......??
