Location

Cambalache is located in the Cordillera Occidental mountain range at a distance of 519 kilometers from the city of Lima. It is located at an elevation between 3466-4790 m.a.s.l.

History

This part of Peru was discovered around 1572 by the Spanish Conquistadors. They were attracted to this area because of the wealth of natural resources.

By 1762 the area was flooded by people attracted by the fever of wealth and prosperity. At that point mining had begun to gain momentum as the world famous Julcani silver mines had been discovered in the area.

Cambalache sits just 12km from Buenaventura’s famous Julcani Mine.

Accessibility & Infrastructure
The mine is easily accessible with a majority of the drive from Lima on the Pan-American Hwy. The drive is roughly eight hours.

Since it is already a working mine a majority of the infrastructure is already in place and sufficient.
