US Marine Transportation Index (DJUSMT)

$DJUSMT: Marine Transport has many catalysts.......I've been following the sector for some time...(checkout the $DJUSMT board)...it's in a major bull rally......when thinking about the future growth of this sector all you have to do is look at the world population and how it's developing........think about it.......2 billion more people will be added to the planet.......that's a lot of "cargo"(Guns, Germs & Steel.....great book highly recommend).......the exploding world population means more goods need to be shipped around the planet.......anything imaginable is shipped across the oceans(been happening for thousands of years).......as countries develop into 1st world countries from 3rd world countries their thirst for goods/cargo increases.......more developed = more "cargo".........more cargo = more profits for the Marine Transportation Index(sector).......there are a couple of key developments......one is the Arctic passage......as global warming increases the ice sheets will melt at a faster rate.......there is only a window of time that the Arctic passage is open for travel each year.......as time goes by the widow will increase along w/ the shipping lanes.......climatologists predict that there will eventually be yr. round travel through the Arctic passage........shipping through the Arctic saves a lot of time money.......travel around the Cape of Africa has become treacherous.......pirating has spread from E. Africa to W. Africa........there are currently NO waters on Africa's borders that are truly safe from pirates.......pirates crush companies w/ their high ransoms......checkout FREE......not many pirates in the North Pole.....lol.....think about it........the threat of being hijacked in the Arctic doesn't exist.......I'm not aware of one pirate incident in the Arctic in modern times, except maybe Environmental/Animal activists........the Co.'s that will benefit most will be from Scandinavia, Russia, Asia, Canada & the United States........famous Greek shipping companies may have downside risk if they don't penetrate this market.......ones of the big catalysts for growth will be shipping natural gas and Canadian tar sands/oil......N America is set up to become a big exporter.......companies that ship in the Arctic will prosper greatly in the future......locate them for individual winners......or buy an ETF for protection against isolated incidents.......there's also a giant ice berg that's currently breaking off Antarctica.......it's huge......current models have it heading towards the Southern Tip of S. America, Cape. Horn.....the most dangerous water on the planet........an already complex and dangerous shipping route now has a major obstacle heading it's way.......there should be winners and losers from this situation........w/ world population growth exploding, the worlds thirst for materialism & our never ending dependence on oil, gas, timber and other resources I only see the Marine Transportation Index to continue to head higher........another catalyst that I KNOW! will be huge is Methane Gas........mark this post.......Methane is going to be the "Next Big Thing"......as the Tundra melts so does the Permafrost........this Permafrost has been a "lid" for methane gas for thousands of years & longer.......the methane gas is from plant (& animal) material trapped under this sheet of ice.......as the permafrost melts this gas is released........there is a CRAZY amount of methane gas under the tundra........it's mind blowing......right now scientist are working for energy companies trying to figure out how to extract the gas and turn it into a useable product.......the Japanese have been working hard........look it up on a Google search......as you can see I can go on & on & on..........there are many catalyst why $DJUSMT should head higher.....the biggest threats are probably world war, natural disasters & global financial collapse.....an ice age wouldn't help.......lol.....(a polar shift started in the 1930's.......ocean currents will eventually pause and reverse course......will take months.......the N. Atlantic current will briefly stop.......this has been predicted by many climatologists and weather models).......$$$
