Bashing the messenger(s) does not contradict the message.

Desulfurization using ultrasound may be an interesting table top experiment, but is it scalable? For instance in his patent "Dr." Gunnerman notes that silica gel could be used for byproduct removal(quote below. Is this a commerically feasible process or could we be trading tar sands for gel sands?

Sulphco published photos of the Korean 2K unit. Notable that the SEC filings indicate that the tests have not yet been successful (milestone payment to Sulphco delayed). 5K and 15K units stated to have been completed, no photos. Now Sulphco is up to 30K units; however, seems from the artciles they may be looping the same sample through whatever they have and stating it parallels achieving throughput? By that rational my car's engine takes 5,000 quarts of oil...

0045] In systems where the reaction induced by the application of sonic energy produces undesirable byproducts in the organic phase, these byproducts can be removed by conventional methods of extraction, absorption, or filtration. When the byproducts are polar compounds, for example, the extraction process can be any process that extracts polar compounds from a non-polar liquid medium. Such processes include solid-liquid extraction, using absorbents such as silica gel, activated alumina, polymeric resins, and zeolites.
