View from the east...

I'm having a coffee...no Starbucks plastic cup deal. A solid mug of the good stuff - just off the boat from Sumatra and filtered through what can only be described as an old sock : your spoon can stand up in this stuff! In front of me yesterday's newspaper. Last year 3G was just a novelty... now the first 30 pages are featuring at least one ad for some new 3G offering. "Watch CNBC on your phone?" Why not.. it's free now... though your videophone usage will be charged at regular phone rates.

My new boss? former CEO of Singapore's largest mobile service provider. Last week we had a nice ol' chat over lunch while he shows me his new iPod. He shares his thoughts about the prospects for mobile marketing and how our lives WILL be changed forever (Lunch tasted a little nicer that day too.. I think the char siew was crispier)

Last year it all seemed a little out of reach. But now this mobile thing is picking up steam in a way too loud to ignore.

I think to myself... 'I've seen this all before'
