They, DeMacro specifically, just don't want to look bad. I know that's a simple answer but it's 100% true. Think about it DeMacro is a government employee, that's 1. Number 2 is this guy has spent the better part of his career going in one direction and now OOPPS sorry DeMacro your services are no longer needed lol. But that's really how it is!! I mean there's a little more to it lol.

Nobody, NOBODY, under public scrutiny wants to look bad and right now Fannie and Freddie are making the whole lot of them look like the idiots they are (some, not all. Ok, most, not all).

The best part of this saga will be the fed court ruling that WILL come out stating that not only the div sweep is illegal/unconstitutional but should never have happened in the first place. The banks did this, point blank. Not saying everyone else had clean hands but it was the banks man---this too I also know to be fact.
