And much of that on ORIGINAL content, which pushes tons of other content off their shelf space. Netflix drops content as frequently as they add it, making it possible for other companies to pick up the pieces. Not much is needed to get even a fraction of the pie.. And that pie is huge
According to Netfix; only 150 million of the 2.5 billion they spend on content this year will be original content.
Your are correct, Netfix does drop content, but not nearly "as frequently as they add it". They dropped over 1,800 titles in May (mostly unpopular titles whose licensed expired)True, they have dropped some classics also.
They now will get Disney movies before cable.
According to Netfix; “The goal is to become HBO faster than HBO can become us,” chief content officer Ted Sarandos told GQ in February.
Nice to have deep pockets.
