Just to play devil's advocate.....
Right outta the chute let me say that I completely get the the meaning of the story, and agree with just about 95% percent of it. However I enjoy a good conversation and thought I would throw out my 2 cents (probably only worth 1c). We have moved from our home in the northeast to our bol in Arkansas, so again let me reiterate, I get it.
That being said, I also believe that not a few of those who live in the America that I do have to accept some, if not most, of the blame for the situations they find themselves in. The "I gotta have the next new toy gotta take the next great vacation drive the newest fanciest car float a bigger boat live in the baddest McMansion all on my $25k salary" generation just never got it.
I'm 61, my wife 68. We both worked hard all out lives and were considered penny pinchers by most. We didn't get our first non crt television until 3 yrs. ago. We purchased a new car 2 yrs. ago only because our 12 yr. old car let us know it was time. I bought a yr. old truck 11 yrs. ago, still drive it, and will until either it, or the Good Lord, decides it is time for one of us to go.
We ain't rich by any means, however we get by, and are able to continue to prepare for what I/we believe is the inevitable outcome of the America laid out in the article.
Anyways, thanks for letting me get that off my chest. I will now step down off my soap box and get back to what I do best, lurking.
