I went through a bunch of posts on the Venue 8 Pro thread that I posted last night and it seems that there are some quality control issues with these tablets.

It's kind of what I think of as "typical Dell" stuff. They do a lot of volume so you have some QC issues here and there and every once in a while you have a design problem and their customer service (on the consumer side) is horrible. Then there are a few software or UI issues that can be fixed or patched. My feeling is that it's better to wait a bit or buy from their Small Business division. The service is domestic in Small Business though they don't give you Microsoft Office for free.

I think that I would be happier if Lenovo made a similar product. I will take a chance on Dell as I've been generally happy with their products. My current home desktop is a refurb Nehalem Core i7 which runs great. I had another one that has motherboard glitches - those are the chances that you take with refurbs.

Do you live in the New England area - I got that hint from your Best Buy comments recently.
