By 2015 your employer should have the same level coverage that you're going to get through the health exchange.

I too pay out of pocket for my wife and myself. My premiums went from $470/month 10k deductible 0% coinsurance (small copay) to $400/month 8k deductible 0% coinsurance (similar copay) through the public health exchange. This is for much better insurance that covers a heck of a lot more. Of course, time will tell since we've yet to use that insurance.

I don't think ACA is exactly what was needed, but overall I'm content.

And are you agreeing with Republicans pre-2008 or post 2008? Remember ACA, with it's public exchange and individual mandate is absolutely the brainchild of Republican think tanks. It's only when Obama pushed did it become a bad idea among Republicans.
