November 1 2013 10:58 pm US mental health win lifts spirits of Ultrasis investors
Shares in interactive healthcare software maker Ultrasis jumped 7.1 per cent to 106p on Thursday, a rise of 3.1 per cent on the previous Friday’s close, after winning a new US contract to provide the company’s signature depression treatment program, Beating the Blues, writes Sally Davies.
Ultrasis’ joint venture partner, U2 Interactive, won a contract with the Mental Health Association of Southeastern Pennsylvania to give users access to the online cognitive behavioural therapy product.
“Beating the Blues offers an affordable and highly scalable solution to treating mild and moderate depression and anxiety conditions for their clients,” said John Smith, chief executive at Ultrasis. “We are particularly excited at the model of deployment being used by MHASP who will use peer advocates to support people through the program.”
The company is expanding into international markets as uncertainty about NHS reforms has led to a reduction in revenues from the UK. Former chief executive Nigel Brabbins was replaced in June, and Ultrasis’ share price reached a five-year high of 152p on August 28.
