I have a broker and very often I will call him in the morning and tell him to lets say buy 2500 at $1.20. If I'm out and about I might call him later in the day and ask if it went through, and often over the years he will say something like we got 2000 done at that price we are just waiting to get the last 500 done. Or we got 1500 at that price and the last 1000 will go through in 2 blocks of 500 . I have bought lets say 5200 and its been done in blocks with a trade of 200 in there.
