Why Lincoln chose to provoke the Civil War is a mystery to me.

The reason Lincoln provoked the "War of Northern Aggression" was to change the demographics of our government in general.

The states at that time were in control each having representatives that met and voted at the capital. If a new amendment or law were to be passed it was voted on by these individuals representing the will of the states. Thus the states controlled the "government" as it should have been. After the war, the power was shifted putting the Federal government in control of the states. At the time of the recession the South was being charged 50% in taxes and they paid 90% of the cost of the federal government. The South seceded because of this unfair taxation, as was their right.

Lincoln DID NOT provoke the war because of slavery. He wanted to send all "blacks" back to Africa, he thought of them as being "lesser than a white man." Maybe, he just wanted to keep his tax base (the Southern states) or maybe he wanted to promote "one world order".

While the war was going on, Lincoln closed down News Papers, didn't allow them to be printed. He felt that if he could keep the war "hush-hush" it would be to his advantage. He put states neighboring Virginia under martial law, i.e. Maryland. The grandson of Francis Scott Key (The Star Spangled Banner) was thrown in jail, as well as editor's and news paper reporters in all areas of martial law.

Another little known fact is that Arlington National Cemetery is Robert E. Lee's farm, taken by the north after the war. I don't think Lincoln chose to provoke the "War of northern Aggression" by himself, but I believe it was a political move made by a group of power hungry individuals, to change the political structure of "The United States of America"..
