Market Summary

Good evening everyone and welcome to today’s OTCBB After Market Report from OTCBB News Network (http://www.OTCBBNN.com). The stock Market rallied today despite the fact the new economic data showed that perhaps the economic recovery is not happening as quickly as previously believed. The movement baffles the experts today, as many of them are simply interpreting the move as a “Pre-Fed meeting” play. This refers to the fact that the Federal Reserve is expected to lower interest rates again when they meet on the 15th of May. Thus there are buyers today regardless of economic news in anticipation of a near term rally. The bottom line is if you look at the stock charts of the major indices it certainly appears that the bottom has been reached and that the market has reversed its negative trend. Investors are relieved that the days of the free falling indices seem to be behind us. Oil, beverages, textiles, banks/brokers, chemicals, and tobacco were the strongest sectors today while the weakest were Retail, airlines, publishing, and housewares. When the final bell rang, the DOW closed up +154.72 (+1.43%) at 10,951.37, while the NASDAQ closed up +45.32 (+2.11%) to 2,191.52. The S&P 500 closed up +16.86 (+1.35%) to 1265.44. The Top 20 volume leaders list for the OTCBB had only 5 stocks closing higher, 12 closing lower and 3 unchanged. It is worth noting that the Top 20 Volume Movers list is not an index and so it is not indicative of the OTCBB market as a whole. Our general observation is that the volatility of many stock on the OTCBB is increasing as is the opportunities for profit.
