The Federal government is giving 30% tax incentives for solar hot water heaters until Dec 31, 2016
About 27 million homes in the US have a hot water heater that is more than 10 years old. The average water heater last about 10 to 15 years; when it fails it can leave you in a mess.
The average household spends $400-$600 a year on water heating -- accounting for 14-18 percent of homeowners’ utility bills.
