buffalobobco: Re: It's real easy to fall into the trap of pumping this stock or dragging it down.

I am doing neither. I am simply posting some observations and personal opinions. You are, of course, free to ignore them.

Negative statement 1.
You said: I think that it is very clear that NVEI is playing the same bandwidth game that the other companies are doing.

There was nothing negative about the statement, or for that matter, any of my statements. You have chosen to interpret my statements as negative. That's your problem.

I say: There has been no claim of doubling their capacity in the last 3 months. You must compare apples to apples. You are not doing that here. Your blasting the current company/executives etc.! It does no good on this board. Please call them or write them.

Yes, there was a claim of doubling the capacity. See the post that I was responding to. That was the entire purpose of my post and the "negative responses".

BTW, I *have* called the company. Your point? This is (or at least is *supposed* to be) a forum for discussion of things NVEI, both pro and con. Someone posted an interpretation of a recent president's letter that I found to be probably incorrect. I posted my opinion. What's the problem?

I say: How many months? Come on predict it! You would expect anyone looking like they were pumping this stock to predict it so why don't you. This is just as much a speculative statement as any thing else. YOU DON'T KNOW EITHER!

It may well be speculation, but it is *informed* speculation. Semiconductor production just happens to be a subject that I know something about. I know about how long it takes to design, map and test an ASIC. I know about how long it takes to "tape out" the masks. I know about how long it takes to fab an "A0" stepping. I know about how long it takes to go from production wafer start to shipping product. You really want me to predict how long it will take? You sure? You won't like the answer.

I predict that we will not see shipping silicon for at least 10 months, and that is very generous. That is assuming that they have a working FPGA now (they don't), and that the mapping of the FPGA code to ASIC design goes perfectly (how many things have gone perfectly) and that there are no timing, speedpath or hot spot issues with the ASIC design that would cause reworking, and that the FAB chosen can ramp production quickly for a small customer like NVEI, and that NVEI can raise the 5 to 10 million or so needed to begin production. There are many other issues that must also work out perfectly. Packaging must be designed, and a packaging facility must be hired. There may well be a need for several package designs. Fab contracting must be executed. This is no small feat. Multi-million dollar deals take time to execute. If all of these things come together perfectly, we could very well have shipping product by early next year according to my informed speculation.
