Villiotis said he had put more money into the deal than expected because Ocean Star Pacific was presented as having one condition of class but after he took control, it was found to have 25 conditions of class. He maintained he has invested $4.6m into the ship, including bringing in technical experts to make repairs. This delay caused him to lose a charter deal in Korea, he said.
Therein lies the rub, the root of the problem. I would have been P.O.'d too if I took control of the ship and then discovered problems. Wouldn't you? Should Peter have done his own or independent survey before the agreement? We simply don't know if he did or didn't, or accepted the surveys/certs in good faith.
