Tetrapod Quantum Dots are made up of advanced-nanoscale material. This material improves the energy efficiency and performance of high resolution computer, TV and smartphone displays. Manufacturers of these displays are now trying to print these dots on the backplane-films in LCD’s to provide larger screens and brighter displays as well as a wider range of colors

San Marco, Texas- based Quantum Corp (NYSE:QTM) has been researching and working on reducing the cost of creating these quantum dots and ensuring that there is standardization in production to meet the manufacturing needs of this high-volume industry. Very recently, the company shipped some samples of these Tetrapod Quantum Dots to an undisclosed Asia –based electronics manufacturer who is purported to be a dominant in this space. Quantum Corp (NYSE:QTM) has customized these quantum dots to the client requirements.
The company said that this continuous flow technology which is still patent pending, produces narrow, uniform-bandwidth tetrapod quantum-dots that have purer colors, less aggregation and bright emission as well as precise color-rendition. The company expects that this technology will soon enable the production of lighter, thinner, brighter and less-expensive QD LED displays such as flexible and portable devices.
