Did you expect them to wash ashore all at once?

Yep. And I am far from being alone in that expectation. If there is no wave, there is no pent-up demand, which means all of us guessing that x86 was a seminal event with immense sales implications were simply wrong. Which is fine - nothing wrong with taking a swing and missing - I just want to know as quickly as possible if I have, indeed, made a mistake.

From my perspective, it comes down to is this: has Apple succeeded in making "Apple" a desirable consumer brand - or is the desire limited to the "iPod" sub-brand? If they can't steal PC users from Microsoft, they have no hope of stealing TV users from Samsung.
