I do not fall in love with any stock... They are all mean, nasty and horrible creatures which only want to hurt you. They pretend to be your friend only to give you a false sense of security in appearing to make money for you... Only to later fall and take it away that said, I try to evaluate each and every one of my positions from a point of view of "would I buy this today?" If the answer is "yes"I will hold it until the answer is "no". I fail to see why a doubling in value will dictate a reduction in my position. I follow momentum, trend lines, volume etc to get a sense of where I thnk the stock is going. If a stock appears to be a reasonable buy at the moment, I believe that it is worth holding. If it is not a reasonable buy at the moment, I believe that I should sell and get out of the position to use the $ somewhere else.

I ask the question about rules because I accept that I cannot read all there is and know all there is. When I hear someone talk about a rule, I want to know the basis for the rule. Who knows, I just might learn something new.
