I think any message told repeatedly has an effect on people. It works in advertising and it works in forming one’s political views.

I have taken to muting commercials, or other irritating gambits used in media, quick camera angle changes, more than one person talking at once, etc.

A close family member had his life destroyed by crack cocaine. Out of money and drug, he would go into a rage stomping and threatening. He seemed almost as addicted to being pissed off as being on the pipe.
