**NEWS**:"FNMA...putting itself out of business"

Washington Business JournalD.C.-based Fannie Mae and McLean-based Freddie Mac are a step closer to putting themselves out of business. Reuters reports that the Federal Housing Finance Agency, the regulator that oversees the mortgage giants, has filed legal paperwork to create a new company to issue mortgage-backed securities.
