I have a medical card. I took the goods, put them in a regular prescription bottle. and then rubber banded my med cert. to the bottle. I put this in my carry on luggage. When I went through the security checkpoint the agent opened the bag I had the meds in and asked me. What is this? I then indicated to please read the attached paper work. He di, then called his supervisor over who looked at the cet. and said that it was all good and to let me through. which they did.
I didn't try and bring it back on the way home though as the parameters would probably have been different since Kansas is not an approved med state.
Just some input to let you know that right now in med approved states, as long as you have your cert. with you they will let you through with no issues. Mine was not a huge amount but the owner of the med shop indicated his mom went through with almost 1/2lb. also with no issues.
