Correct me if Im wrong but stocks that pay out diviends generally trade at a higher price up until the ex dividend date. Which is the date in which the dividend checks are cut. Typically after that the PPS drops some because of sell off. (people dumping the stock because the dividend checks were cut and thats all they were in it for was a qucik buck?

I'm a rook but thats the understanding I got from when I was reading up on some Dividend paying stocks.
