Many patients still uninformed about digital health records

Less than one-third of the more than 2,000 U.S. adults surveyed were informed by their physicians about the conversion of their health data to a digital format, according to the results of Xerox's fourth annual EHR survey. The poll also revealed that 32% of respondents are interested in getting their health records digitized, while 19% have online access to their health data. "Patients will soon have more access to their personal health information than ever before, but they need to be educated by providers on how this will empower them to take charge of their own care," said Charles Fred, president of health care provider solutions at Xerox.
