The issue is that it wants to activate your webcam and microphone when you aren't even logged into the site for a meeting.

Why would they do that? Can you find any mainstream web conferencing site that also does that?

Who is able to see any video taken when one does that? Is it recorded and maintained along with an IP address?

Typically during a web meeting, there is a list of invited participants. The participant's webccam and microphone aren't activated until the participant logs into the meeting. I can think of no good purpose for activating them when there is no meeting.
