28/09/2013 | 01:40 PM | Kuwait News

KUWAIT, Sept 28 (KUNA) -- The United States will lead a delegation of 13 American companies on a cybersecurity and critical infrastructure protection trade mission to Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, from September 29 to October 2, the US Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade Francisco Sanchez announced in a press release Saturday.
The delegation will join Sanchez on stops in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, according to the press release faxed to KUNA by the US Embassy in Kuwait. At each stop, participating companies will meet with key government decision makers and prospective private sector partners.
"The mission will connect US companies in the Safety and security industries that offer the best quality products, technologies, and services with the public and private entities in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait looking for their expertise," Sanchez said. "It's an important step in promoting the export of US goods and services in order to help meet Saudi Arabia and Kuwait's critical infrastructure protection and cybersecurity needs." Saudi Arabia has prioritized increasing cyber defense and infrastructure protection and continues to invest heavily in these sectors, spending more than US nine billion in 2012 to expand many of its airports, the press release noted.
Kuwait has also proposed spending US 28.2 billion on infrastructure advancement; specifically transportation and airport expansions. These major advancements provide huge opportunities for American security companies to deliver their goods and services to both of these critical trading partners, it added.
The press release listed the participating companies in the trade mission. They are: Air Patrol Corporation, Datalocker, Inc., Emagine IT, Inc., Fire Eye, Inc., GlimmerGlass Optical Cyber Solutions, Implant Sciences Corporation, Lockheed Martin Corporation, National US-Arab Chamber of Commerce, Open Systems International, Inc., Raytheon Company, Schwcitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL), SourceFire, Inc., and Tccore Networks, Inc.
This trade mission advances President Obama's National Export Initiative (NEI), which aims to double US exports by the end of 2014, supporting economic and job growth. With its network of offices across the US and in more than 70 countries, the US Commercial Services utilizes its global presence and international marketing expertise to help match US companies selling their products and services with international buyers.
