2 official at ONC leaving next month

David Muntz, the No. 2 official at HHS' Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, will be joining his boss, National Coordinator Dr. Farzad Mostashari, in leaving the agency next month.

Mostashari shares views on Senate oversight of MU, team-based care

Adopting technology and promoting team-based care were always objectives at the ONC during his tenure, said outgoing National HIT Coordinator Dr. Farzad Mostashari, but the biggest lesson he learned over the past four years is that patients and their families are members of the health care team and are, in fact, the most important members. In this interview with Government Health IT, Mostashari also shared his views on the misconceptions about policymakers, saying that the Senate's oversight of the stage 2 meaningful use program has been helpful.

EHR vendor faces patent infringement suit

MyMedicalRecords, a subsidiary of MMRGlobal, has filed a lawsuit against Allscripts Healthcare Solutions, saying the company violated eight of MMRGlobal's U.S. patents when it released and distributed the FollowMyHealth Universal Health Record and other patient portals. MyMedicalRecords also said in the complaint that the alleged infringement might cause other health care groups to also disregard MMRGlobal's patents. BeckersHospitalReview.com (9/25)
