Airlines Get Lift Ahead of Earnings Season -- Market Talk
8:09 EDT - JPMorgan says "firm" revenue per available seat mile and "retreating" fuel prices should help airlines post healthy 3Q results. Firm upgrades US Airways (LCC) to overweight from neutral saying that even if a planned merger with AMR fails--putting the chances at about 50%--"its stand-alone prospects are materially better than implied by the market." Firm also lifts Delta Air Lines (DAL) to overweight saying carrier is likely to raise its 11%-13% operating margin range as RASM continue to top expectations. Shares of LCC and DAL gain a little over 2% premarket. ([e-mail])
