That's a good point, too. I do not have a feel for Halloween, yet... it's a little early to gauge. Just looking at shelf presence, my early impression is that Target is taking a much lower profile in shelf-presence than KMart or Walmart in both bagged candy and costumes/décor-items. Proportionate presentation actually and surprisingly seems to be focused more on the drug chains like CVS and Walgreens and at dollar stores than at any big box or grocery.

Sometimes a conservative posture in both Easter and Halloween nets smaller topline gains but better margins since markdowns for a short-season holiday tend to be extreme. This said, Target might benefit by being a bit lower key for Halloween stuff.
