InterDigital, Inc. (Nasdaq:IDCC), a wireless research and development company, today announced the evaluation and trial of Wi-Fi® over dynamically managed unlicensed spectrum in collaboration with StarHub, Singapore's fully-integrated info-communications company that offers a full range of information, communications and entertainment services for both consumer and corporate markets.
The DSM Wi-Fi® platforms are being used to evaluate the suitability of Wi-Fi® and UHF (TV White Space) spectrum for both indoor and outdoor applications. Video surveillance and small cell backhaul are some of the key applications that will be tested along with general throughput, latency and coverage. Initial tests show good performance with TCP/IP speeds up to 20 Mbps over a 40 meter indoor NLOS distance.
