Dell Changes Tune On AMD
http://www.investors.com/editorial/IBDArticles.asp?artsec=17&artnum=1&issue=20060106

PC leader Dell looks poised to start using chips from Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) in its products. If so, it would mark a big shift for the direct sales, build-to-order PC firm, which used only Intel (INTC) until now.

In the past, Dell executives said they'd consider using AMD chips, but didn't see the need. But with the popularity of AMD's chips growing, Dell has changed its tune.

When asked by IBD if his firm planned to use AMD chips, Michael Dell said, "It's a distinct possibility."

He declined to say what products might use AMD chips or when that would occur.

And in a completely separate news item, Wylie E. Coyote has announced he will strongly consider no longer ordering anti-roadrunner equipment from the Acme Manufacturing Company, but is strongly reviewing changing his supplier to Edsel. When asked by IBD, Mr. Coyote said, it is a strong possibility and that we have redoubled our efforts to review the review of the possibility of the change.
