Here's a little read about a company named C2 Communications

C2 owns a VOIP patent the at a high level defines a VOIP network. It doesn't claim the details that VP's RBR does though, so I don't think there's need for concern here. The story is mainly focused on how Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) wanted the actual patent placed under review. Considering that this story is a couple years old and no updates occurred, I assume the patent held up, which I will review further (watch this space); however, if you read C2's history regarding what happened when they sued over patent infringement, all companies sued pretty much settled out with one time payments:

In 2006, C2 sued all the major U.S. carriers, including AT&T, Verizon and Qwest, alleging they were infringing the patent. All the carriers settled out of court with one-time payments,
