hello to you, "paradigm shift"? Yes Intel is pushing for more than that. I feel in this environment of extreme uncertainty and worldwide lack of confidence that businesses will be very leary of shifting their paradigm. If AMD shows they have the product and that the platform is reliable this could bode well for Advanced. Intel on the other hand forcing business to accept Itanium could in the short term not be a great model for Intel to follow. But what else do they have? Xeon?
Which might fill that void in the interim. The lastest news that has kept my confidence in AMD up is MSFT's support for Opteron. If MSFT sees dollar signs and a possible revenue stream with AMD's Opteron this could be a strong signal to businesses that Opteron is a strong competitior and alternative to Itanium. I can hear the rebuttal now...
