I think there are further pieces of the Microsoft/VRNG puzzle that we are not aware of which is buried somewhere in those patents they acquired from MS. I don't believe VRNG would would settle for something that would not benefit them in the future in-spite of any cap on payment from MS. Why would they agree to something that would not be beneficial to them? If the amounts received from GOOG "substantially exceed" the judgement previously awarded, then i would think that alone would offset any negatives to the Microsoft/VRNG settlement anyway.
