"An eVU that you can't buy..."

The quintessential e.Digital marketing strategy for the last 6+ years!!!

Hype products and prototypes that aren't available for sale, but are "expected" "soon."

In the meantime, would you like to buy some bargain stock?

It sounds to me as though this reporter has not even seen the eVU and is just reporting on information and specs e.Digital disseminated to the press attending CES.

The repoter seems a bit mystified as to why a non-consumer entertainment device that would be activated with a CC is being promoted at a consumer electronics show. Despite the elation on agoracom, I detect a bit of a slam in the article.

Alas, what the author doesn't know is that the eVU is simply a 2003 digEplayer in a different case. It does not have the new features oft and much-touted by e.Digital such as wireless capability, Internet access, VoIP, RFID and e.Digital-supplied content. It does not even seem to have the ethernet capability that the more recent digEplayers have.

Unfortunately, the author seems unaware of the many similar consumer devices that have been offered for over a year.

The fact that this author mentions a CC reader does not in itself convince me it exists in the prototype(s). I certainly don't see it the stock photo. The author was also incorrect in stating that the eVU could be used to "watch television" as in reality the device would hold only formerly aired TV episodes loaded to its hard drive. It has no connection to real time television.

Perhaps Don/D.inkie or Frank/sunpoop can find the eDigital guys at CES and take more photos of the eVU (including the CC swipe) and post them online.

Of course I look forward to sunpoop's annual discussion of non-public information that Falk accidentally disclosed in his extreme excitement of the moment but doesn't want anyone to "act on."
