I disagree, but only from personal experience. My thyroid level was far enough out of whack that my doctor insisted that I needed to start taking replacement hormone. But I'm also a stubborn bstrd, so I increased the amount of Anatabloc I take instead. My thyroid function has improved each blood test since then and I expect it to be within 'normal' range by my next test (about another month or so). It's a slow process, taking at least 6 months to settle.

The new dosage recommendations came out just before my doctor's decree. We'll discuss it again after my next tests.
