its either they attempted a 'live' test because as many of us have been saying they haven't had close to enough time to develop, test, beta test, and then implement anything in 6 months, or it was a hack/malicious attack.
i worked in software for 6 years prior to investment banking. to change a fundamental underpinning of logic to a system is 1. suicide 2. virtually impossible 3. impossible to make in 6 months to a year for even the smartest humans alive especially given the challenges here and risks.
if it was so easy, there would never have been a court case. its a red herring used all the time.
what they may have done is try something they have been thinking about/working on but not even close to ready and they saw what happened.
either that or they were hacked, either way they don't want to talk about it so it says its sensitive.
